What is the best strategy for using Powersnipe?

Using Powersnipe lets users think about auctions in a new way. You no longer have to bid, and then react to what others bid by increasing your bid. Powersnipe allows you to think about auctions in a proactive way. We suggest that when you use your PowerSnipe account, you set the maximum bid to the maximum amount your willing to pay so you don't have to worry about increasing you maximum bid for the auction. This will save you a lot of time. PowerSnipe will always try to win the auction for you at lowest possible price less than or equal to your maximum bid. Increasing the maximum bid right at the end of an auction is not recommended because you waste time watching the auction and when PowerSnipe starts to bid for your auction it will not allow you to change your maximum bid.

So just set the max. your willing to pay and forget it, we'll win it at the best price possbile.

If I have already placed a bid on an item manually and with Powersnipe, will Powersnipe try to outbid my original manual bid?

PowerSnipe will bid for you but in most cases that will not cause you to bid against yourself if your manual bid satisfies the bid increment rule defined by eBay at http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bid-increments.html. For example: you manually bid on an auction with the maximum bid of $5 and you set a maximum bid of $10 in your PowerSnipe account. When the auction is about to end, you are still the current high bidder at $5 and the highest bid lower than your bid is $4.75, PowerSnipe will try to bid for you but you will win the auction at $5 since your manual bid $5 satisfies the bid increment rule $4.75 + $0.25 = $5. In case your manual bid doesn't satisfy the bid increment rule, for example, the highest bid lower than your bid is $4.80. According to the rule your manual bid has to be $4.80 + $0.25 = $5.05, Powersnipe still try to bid for you but you will win the auction at $5.05. Although this case might happen, the chance for it to happen is rare because most of the manual bids should satisfy the bid increment rule and if it happens it only requires very little extra amount of money to satisfy the rule.

How long before the end of the auction does PowerSnipe place the bid?

PowerSnipe places your bid from 2 to 8 seconds before the end of the auction based on network traffic.

Powersnipe sent me a message saying my bid was too low, but it was higher than the final price, how can this be?

Sometimes your maximum bids are a little higher than the current winning bid but you still don't win the auctions because of the bid
increment rule. For example if the current bid of an auction is $30 and your maximum bid is $30.58, you still don't win the auction
because in this case eBay required a minimum bid of $30 + $1(bid increment) = $31 to win the auction. In this case PowerSnipe server
should send you an email about that. Please go to http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bid-increments.html for more information about bid increment.
eBay bids follow bid increments. Your bid must be equal or higher than the next increment to be recorded. These increments are variable depending on the current bid.

How do I set the eBay Auction Sniper and Auto Search software for Windows to load an international eBay page?

Go to Tools -->Set eBay homepage, then type in the address of the page you want to be displayed in the eBay window (Example: http://www.ebay.co.uk), then click "Set homepage." Close the program and run it. Log into your Powersnipe account, click on User Profile. Change Default eBay Site. Click on Update to update your profile.

How do I change my bid?

To increase your max bid: 1) log into your account 2) press "My auctions" 3) under each auction listing is a link that says "click here to change your max bid." Click that link.

Example: Current Bid: 8.00* Quantity Available: 1 Quantity to Purchase: 1 Ends: 2003-05-22 10:46:19.0 Click here to change your max bid <---------

Next, change the maximum price you are willing to pay and click “update.”

How do I change my personal information?

To change personal information such as email address, password, and your eBay information, first log into the site. Then Click on the “User Profile” button at the top of the page. This takes you to a form where you can change the personal information associated with your account.

Can I retract my bid in my eBay account once I have marked it for bidding?

Yes. Once you have marked an auction for biding, you can retract the bid before the auction end. Log into your eBay account and retract your bid on the auction. EBay allows you to retract your bid before the auction end time http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/questions/retract-bid.html

I lost my password, how do I get a new one?

To have your password emailed to the address specified in your profile, use the password recovery tool.

What happens to my information, will you share it with other companies?

PowerSnipe is a closed and secure system. Your information is encrypted and stored on secure serves at PowerSnipe. Personal information will never be shared with a third party.

Will you send me unwanted email?

PowerSnipe will never send you unwanted email. The only email you receive from us will be related to the status of your auctions. You will receive confirmation emails when you place the bid and when the auction is over.

Will PowerSnipe win all my auctions?

Using PowerSnipe ensures you the best possible opportunity of winning every auction. However, there are rare conditions that occur on occasion such as network traffic, that might cause PowerSnipe not to be the last bid submitted.

What is Sniping?

Sniping is the method of biding where the bidder waits until the final moments of an auction to place their bid. By doing so this avoids the “bidding war” and the user will get the auction at the lowest possible price. This has become a common practice and those who do not use some form of it will generally lose their auctions and waste their time and efforts in the process. PowerSnipe is better than sniping because the computer is biding for you at the last possible moment.

What is PowerSnipe?

PowerSnipe is the premier bidding tool used to win eBay Auctions. eBay auctions are often lost in the last few seconds of the auction because the majority of people wait until the last seconds to place their bids. PowerSnipe is an online service that securely bids for you in the final moments, giving you a better chance of winning.

Why is PowerSnipe Necessary?

When an eBay auction is placed it usually does not end for days. One person places his maximum bid. Later another person comes along and bids until he is the highest bidder. During the course of an auction this process often repeats itself many times, it is known as a “bidding war” and it drives the price of an auction up.

To avoid the “bidding war” people have started bidding another way known as “sniping”. They wait until the final moments of the auction to submit their bid. Doing this often ensures that they get the item at the lowest price possible, but there are problems with this method. The first problem is that you have to be online at the end of the auction, this can be a tremendous time waster. The second problem is that you also have to compete with others that may have a faster connection than you do. The process of placing the bid takes time so unless you time your bid just right, there is a good chance someone else will outbid you or time will run out. The last problem is that once a bid is placed, it is very hard to retract your bid so many times if you make a mistake or find the item at a cheaper price somewhere else you still are under an eBay contract to buy it.

How can I make powersnipe work with Norton Personal Firewall?

Powersnipe should work with Norton Personal Firewall when you download it. If you have the Firewall configured to block all new programs from accessing the Internet you can click on the bar that says "Personal Firewall." Then click on the second option which is "Internet Access Control." A list of programs will appear. Scroll down to where it says "PowerSnipe Auction Sniper.exe" and click on that. There will be options to the right. The three optoins are, "Permit all, Block all, and custom." Make sure "Permit all" is selected for Powersnipe program.

I got a Non Paying Bidder complaint registered against me and I lost an auction, what should I do?

We attempt to place your bid before the auction ends. When we go to place the bid we first fill out the form that asks us how much you are willing to pay. Then a screen comes up and asks us to login using your login information. Normally when we attempt to log in everything goes through ok and your bid is place. There is however, certain cases that can stop the bid from going through. One is when a user has a NPB warning against him. In this case, when we log into your account to bid for you, that screen comes up and does not allow us to proceed in placing the bid. In this case, you must manually log into your account and acknowledge to eBay that you have received this warning. If you do not, we can not bid for you because that error will keep coming up when we go to place the bid. It is for this reason that your bid will not be registered and you will not receive an email from eBay, because no bid will be registered. To fix this you must manually log into your ebay account and confirm. After you complete this your bids will go through.

To read more about non paying bidder status and what you can do about it, please visit the following ebay page.

For more information on how to appeal your non paying bidder status, please visit the eBay page below.

How does PowerSnipe work?

PowerSnipe eliminates all of the problems associated with bidding and gives you the best possible chance of winning the auction. PowerSnipe can be used on any computer connected to the Internet. You browse eBay auctions with your web browser. When you are ready to place a bid you can either copy and paste the auction number into your PowerSnipe account, or use the PowerSnipe auction browser and press the snipe button. PowerSnipe will extract all the information from the auction page and save it in an easy to review format. When the auction is about to end PowerSnipe will submit your bid at the last possible moment. Your computer does not even have to be turned on because PowerSnipe places your bid from a bidding server with a high speed connection to the Internet. If for some reason you want to retract your bid, you can do so up to four minutes before the auction closes.

How do I join?

Click the sign up button above and fill out the registration form.

What currency does PowerSnipe use to place my bid?

PowerSnipe will use the primary currency of the auction to place the bid. For example, if you place a bid of 20, powersnipe will bid 20 pounds if the primary currency for the auction is GBP.

How can I delete my auto search

There are two types of auto search. Powersnipe offers a demo auto search which allows users to create one auto search to try the product. This is accessed from the home page under the link: Try Auto Search (demo). For people who set up that kind of auto search, you must return to that page and type in the email address you had typed in originally. The program will then look up your auto search. From there you can press "Delete," and the auto search will be deleted.

For users who have purchased the product and wish to delete an auto search, log into your account, press the Daily Auto Search tab, from there you will see the option to delete the auto search. If you have set up a demo auto search and then have purchased PowerSnipe, your search will not be transferred into your account. You must return to the Auto Search demo screen and delete the auto search there, and then log into your account and set the search again.

How do I turn off the messages that are sent to my email after every auction?

To turn off the auction status messages that tell you the results of your auctions, click on user profile, and then click "off" on the auction status message section.

I cancelled my account, why am I still getting auto search results, and how do I get them to stop?

Auto searches are managed through your account in the Auto Search tab. Though your account may be disactivated for sniping, you may still have auto searches that have been previously registered. To disable any auto searches you have previously set up, log into your account, press the auto search tab, and delete them by pressing the delete button next to each auto search.

Is it possible to lose the auction if my max bid is greater than the other bids?

The most common reason people lose an auction even though their max bid is greater than the other bids is because auctions on eBay have minimum amounts the bid must go up by each time an item is bid on. For example, if an auction is at $5.50 and the minimum increment for the auction is 50 cents, your bid would have to be $6.00. If you bid $5.99 your bid would be higher than the other bids, but would still be too low. Bid increment rule of eBay http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bid-increments.html

Second common reason is the seller or eBay blocks your bid because of one of these reasons: you need to be pre-approved by the seller to bid on the auction, the seller won't ship to your location, your eBay account has to be linked to a Paypal account if the seller only accepts Paypal, violation of eBay regulations on ticket event see http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/event-tickets.html, large bid requirements see http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bidding-ov.html#bigtix, and some special cases of eBay regulations.

The third reason is you changed your eBay username or eBay password on eBay and forgot to update them in your PowerSnipe account. Or when you created your PowerSnipe account you mistyped your eBay password.

The last and very rare reason is people lose auctions because of network traffic. Network traffic can become greater at certain periods of time during the day and make the time to place a bid take longer. Although we try to minimize this effect as much as possible, auctions are still lost because of this reason.

Will PowerSnipe bid the whole amount of my max bid, even if the whole amount is not necessary to win the auction?

When the auction ends, the amount that will show on the eBay result will be the amount of your bid that is necessary to win the auction, thus winning the auction for the lowest possible price and saving you money.

How do I change my eBay username on my account?

To change your eBay username click "user profile" in your account.

I received an error that said: We were unable to place the bid because your eBay log in information is incorrect. How do I fix this?

This error means that you probably initially accidentally typed in the wrong eBay information during sign up. This however is easy to correct. To correct this simply press "User profile" while signed in. Then look at the text boxes to check if we have you down for the correct eBay information. If you don't see a problem with your ebay user name the problem might be in your password. Try retyping that also. If you feel both of those things are correct, it may be possible that eBay has temporarily disabled your account for some reason, try logging into eBay and check to see if you can.

Does powersnipe work with mature audience auctions?

PowerSnipe currently does not work with mature auctions for legal reason, although we are looking into supporting this in the near future.

I keep pressing refresh on My Auctions page, but my auction information won’t update, what am I doing wrong?

The reason you don't see the current bid updated because your account was not refreshed. To force your account to refresh you need to log out of your account and log back in. There is a delay of updating current bid between PowerSnipe and eBay because PowerSnipe is not eBay. If you absolutely need to see the current bid updated frequently then you need to go directly to eBay.

Why do I see Compupower LLC on my credit card or bank statement when I purchase PowerSnipe?

PowerSnipe is a product of Compupower LLC so you will see that you pay Compupower LLC on your statement if you purchase PowerSnipe.

What is the difference between Powersnipe bidding and eBay proxy bidding?

The different between PowerSnipe bidding and bidding manually by setting the maximum bid on eBay (proxy bidding) is PowerSnipe only starts to bid for you in the final seconds before the auctions end time so nobody knows that you plan to bid on that auction and your maximum bid will be. While you bid on eBay manually, eBay does hide your maximum bid but other people actually see your eBay username in the bid history and try to compete with you by increase their maximum bids to beat your current bid until your current bid reaches your maximum bid then they know your maximum bid? So you must either go back to eBay to reset your maximum bid to compete with them again or you just let them win the auction? In conclusion, the major different here is when should you bid on the auction? PowerSnipe is designed to avoid the competition with other bidders called bidding war that increases the auction price. Powersnipe also saves you time watching the auctions to increase your maximum bid.

Some sellers require bidders to have a PayPal account to bid on their auctions. How do I link my Paypal account to my eBay account?

What happens to my bids in last three minutes?

About three minutes before the auction end time Powersnipe starts to process your bid and it moves your auction to the completed item list even though the auction doesn't end yet. That doesn't mean that Powersnipe will not bid for you. It only means that Powersnipe is processing your bid. The reason for that is when Powersnipe starts processing the bid, it doesn't want the user to modify the maximum bid or delete the auction in last minutes. PowerSnipe always places bids at final second from 2-8 seconds before the auction end.

When will my PowerSnipe account be renewed?

Your renewal is one year after you initially subscribed. When you purchase the PowerSnipe subscription, your account will be automatically renewed to avoid interruption of the service. If you do not want to automatically renew please email us at support@powersnipe.com and your expiration date will be displayed in your account.

How can I run the installed software on my Mac computer?

To run Powersnipe software you can go to Finder ---> Applications ---> eBay Auction Sniper ---> eBay Auction Sniper.

I have AVG Anti-Virus installed and it won’t let me access my Powersnipe account.

AVG Anti-Virus has a version of their program that contains a firewall. When you have a firewall installed you need to approve each piece of software that accesses the Internet. There are two ways to do this with AVG. If you are installing the AVG software for the first time, run the firewall set up wizard and approve each piece of software you want to have access to the Internet (including Powersnipe). If you already have AVG installed on your computer you will see a popup window when you try to access the eBay Auction Sinper software which connects to your Powersnipe account. You should “Always allow” this software to connect to the internet.

I am confused about the local time zone setting, how does it work and what should I set it to?

The local time zone setting allows you to see when the auction is ending in relation to where you are. This is necessary because eBay time is Pacific Time. This is sometimes confusing, especially for users in different time zones and different countries. For each auction you queue to be sniped we show you the ending time in Pacific Time (eBay Time), and your local time. These two times are the same but are displayed in different time zone format for your convenience. If this feature is confusing, you can leave the time zone at its default which is PST (eBay Time).

I am still within my thirty day trial and I’ve decided to cancel and get my money back, how do I do this?

If you are within your thirty day guarantee period, provide written notification including your Powersnipe login email and your eBay username. Refund requests are processed within 30 days. Mail notification to:
